How to make Campfire / Backpackers Pizza!
Have you ever been in the backwoods … backpacking, camping, hiking, whatever … and you’re sitting there eating some nasty freeze-dried meal, or a MRE, or another stupid power bar? You start thinking about all the good food waiting for you on the other side of your trip.
Like pizza.
Well, you don’t have to wait anymore my friend, I’m here to save you.
How to make campfire/backcountry pizza!
It’s honestly so easy to make campfire pizza in the backcountry you’ll probably slap you grandma for not teaching you this sooner, as you should. All it takes is 4 EASY ingredients to make this recipe for campfire pizza. Do you know what the best part is?
No refrigeration required.
Backcountry Pizza Recipe.
- naan bread
- pizza sauce (in a packet)
- pepperoni (in a package)
- laughing cow spreadable cheese
All these are cheap ingredients that can be found at any grocery store.
I mean it honestly doesn’t get any easier.
All you need really is a pan big enough to fit the naan bread, depending on what size you got. Simple start off by putting the naan bread in the pan over the fire, get it heated up a little bit. Take one of the packets of pizza sauce and pour over the naan bread as desired.
Usually the pizza sauce packets have enough to make 4-5 pizzas.
Next, spread that cheese by opening the laughing cow package, the cheese comes in a bunch of little wedges. This can be a tricky part, but it’s not that bad. Once that is done add the pepperoni and wait for perfection to happen.
Cooking instructions.
It’s best to cook it directly over the fire, depending on how hot the coals are, for at least 5-10 minutes, git it nice and heated through the bottom. Once it’s been on awhile, take a rock and set it directly next the fire, place the pizza in the pan at an angle if you can, so you can get some heat on the TOP of the pizza. This helps get that top of the pizza a little crispy and make sure those pepperonis are starting to curl.
At that point, you know you have the perfect pizza.
